CADDO COUNTY, Okla. -- Two people died Sunday in a plane crash in western Oklahoma.

Officials said pilot Walter Mullaney, 62, of El Reno, and Cesar Gomez, 27, of Lumton, Colorado, were en route from Odessa, Texas to El Reno.

Officials said their plane, a 1967 Beachcraft Bonanza, was diverted due to weather to the Hinton Airport.

According to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, the plane was heading eastbound when for an unknown reason it crashed at about 9:30 p.m. into a field about seven miles south of Hydro.

The crashed plane was located by authorities at about 7 a.m. on Monday. Both Mullaney and Gomez were pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
