A Tulsa retirement home celebrates one residents 23rd birthday on this year's Leap Day.
John A. Walker has been around for 92 years but because his actual birthday only comes around once every four years this is only his 23rd birthday. While his body may be old, you can tell from the fohawk on his head and spunk in his voice that he truly is 23 at heart.
For Walker, he says life with a unique birthday has been relatively simple. The one problem that he faced was as he got older technology progressed and it couldn't quite fathom a Leap Baby.
"It was alright until computers came along. Computers don't recognize February 29th as a legal day," Walker said.
He added that people don't usually believe him at first, but soon come around to the idea.
For Walker, his birthday is usually celebrated the day before, on February 28th. He says that when he lived at home with his family they would celebrate with cake a small celebration.
We reached out to local hospitals to see if there were any Leap Babies this year, but they were not able to comment.
