The second all women firefighters calendar has been in the works for the past couple of months. The first calendar came out in 2019.

Firefighters Kendall Williams and Alexa Booth are the ones who came up with the idea, which will feature twelve women from five different departments. The ladies range from 20s-50s and seven out of the twelve ladies are mothers. The females represented are privates, drivers and captains.

All proceeds will go to Hydrants of Hope, a non-profit which was founded by Mark Meyer, a firefighter who passed away from cancer. Kinsey Meyer, his daughter, now runs the charity with her mother and is also featured in the calendar in the month of March.

“My Dad was diagnosed with cancer in March of 2012. He ran across a little boy pushing an IV pole. It was in that moment that Dad came up with the idea of Hydrants of Hope,” said Kinsey.

The charity has helped hundreds of children living with cancer.

“Hydrants of Hope has been able to provide gas cards, medications and funding for families to make life a little bit easier for them,” said Kinsey.
She described the experience of this year’s photo shoot as bitter sweet.

“I did a tribute to my Dad in some of [this year’s the photos]. Knowing that Dad was in last year’s calendar, I couldn’t picture doing it without him. I had many moments thinking, ‘You should be here.’ In many ways, I felt like he was there, “ Kinsey told us.

The 2020 calendar theme has been top-secret.

“I don’t want to give away a theme, but will leave you a one-word description of the overall calendar, ‘hot.’ The release party is at Myers Duren on Brookside on September 14th, at their Bikes and Blues and BBQ event. I can assure you that you won’t want to miss it,” said Kinsey.

When the calendar is released, we’ll let you know how to get a copy.
