TULSA-- Season 13 of NBC’s The Voice brings more Oklahomans on to the national music stage.

Tulsa recording artist Whitney Fenimore hits the stage tonight and gets her chance to audition in front of the four judges.

Whitney explains what it's like to be performing in front of The Voice judges, "And you try not to think about, 'Oh my gosh I'm about to sing in front of Adam Levine, Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Hudson, Blake Shelton,' like these people are a big deal,”

Fenimore says the contestants audition in front front of a live audience with 500 people in the stands.

Whitney thought at the time, ”I’m just going to pretend like I’m playing a show. I remember my dad and a couple other people said, 'Hey this is what you do. Don’t make it be anything different than that."

Born and raised in Tulsa, the Victory and ORU grad is happy to be on a show like The Voice.

"To me, The Voice is special because it truly is about the voice and encouraging people and their craft and not tearing people down.”

On top of that she admires the judges who act like coaches as the season goes on. "I don’t know if I’ve ever felt like I felt being in front of all of those coaches, like it was very overwhelming, very surreal. I watched The Voice, I was an actual fan. I still am. Even watching TV now when I see friends up there I'm like a genuine fan like crying during their stories, you know?”

The Voice is on its third week of blind auditions—that’s where the judges start out with their backs turned to the contestant.

”Already I’ve gotten so much encouragement," Whitney says, "and people are getting excited with the show, texts calls, Facebook posts and I’m so thankful to everyone. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for my music teachers, my friends, everybody really has just carried me here, I couldn’t have done it alone and I’m thankful for the places in Tulsa that let me play,”

Fenimore will be compete tonight at 7pm on 2 Works for You.
