A Tulsa woman who'll be attending the Olympic games in Brazil says she'll be weary about the Zika virus while she's abroad, but that won't stop her from going.
Adriana Palma, an employee at On a Whim, says she grew up in Rio de Janeiro and that mosquitoes have always been prevalent there.
She doesn't fear the Zika virus too much this time of year, since it's winter and mild in her home country.
A spokesperson from the Tulsa Health Departmentsays mosquitoes come out during hot climate and are attracted to wet places.
Even so, Palma says she'll be prepared on her trip by taking bug spray.
The Centers for Disease Control has been warning travelerssince the beginning of the year to take safety precautions if visiting a place where the mosquitoes that carry the Zika virus are found.
