TULSA – After spending nearly 20 years behind bars for a crime she did not commit, one Tulsa woman is taking action against the city.
Michelle Murphy filed a federal lawsuit claiming prosecutors, officers and Tulsa officials committed egregious misconduct during her prosecution.
In the document, Murphy includes wrongful arrest, detention, prosecution, conviction and imprisonment.
Murphy was convicted in the 1994 killing her three month old son.
But, new DNA evidence exonerated her last year.
