TULSA — The city of Tulsa and Tulsa Transit on Tuesday broke ground on the first Peoria Aero Bus Rapid Transit station.

Tulsa's new Aero BRT will feature new buses, comfortable stations, and service along Peoria every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 20 to 30 minutes on weekends. The stations will also include real-time arrival signs, sheltered seating, bicycle racks and level boarding.

The Peoria Aero BRT will begin service in late summer 2019 and run along Peoria from 54th Street North to 81st Street South.

“This summer, Tulsa will be one of the first 12 cities in the United States to operate bus rapid transit lines, connecting Tulsans to jobs, educational opportunities and destinations along Peoria and Downtown Tulsa,” Mayor G.T. Bynum said. “The new Aero bus rapid transit system will transform the way residents and visitors can get around our city and help create a world-class transportation system in Tulsa.”
