Tulsa to participate in the YMCA's World Challenge to celebrate the organization's 175th anniversary

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa is participating in the YMCA's World Challenge to celebrate the organization's 175th anniversary.

The YMCA is "challenging people across the globe to volunteer 175 minutes of their time" on Saturday, June 8 to serve the community.

The YMCA of Greater Tulsa plans to make 175 sandwiches in 175 minutes with the help of volunteers. The sandwiches will be donated to Iron Gate Tulsa, a soup kitchen and grocery pantry.

All the bread will be donated by Pancho Anaya Mexican Bakery in Tulsa.

The YMCA is calling on volunteers to help accomplish its goal.

Anyone interested in making sandwiches should meet at the Tandy Family YMCA on June 8 from 9 to 11 a.m.

It's located at 5005 S. Darlington Avenue.
