Alexis Gregory, 16, last left her home near South 145th East Ave. and 38th Street in Tulsa, at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Her family hasn't seen her since then.
Her family and friends are worried sick about 'Lexi.'
“This is so atypical of her. It is not like Lexi to not contact us, and she would never run away,” said Erica Potter, Lexi's mother.
Based on messages found on her social media, Lexi’s family believes she planned to meet someone she met through Instagram messenger to discuss a possible modeling career. The name on the account she had been in contact with was “Salma mohammed, salma_mo57” who is described as a modeling agent and team leader.
“I’ve always told Lexi that she should never follow anyone she doesn’t know online, or share personal information [on the internet] with anyone she doesn’t know,” said Potter.
The Tulsa Police Department started actively searching for Lexi around 1 a.m. Thursday. Lt. John Adams requested a search warrant into the teen’s social media accounts within the investigation.
“We’ve got to find her,” said Lt. Adams.
Lexi’s boyfriend is the last known person to speak to her on the phone when the phone went dead around 5:09 p.m. on the night she disappeared.
Friends of Lexi discovered her phone last pinged on Snapchat around South 206th East Avenue and East 34th Place on Wednesday at around 5 p.m. TPD looked at recent surveillance video in that particular neighborhood and Lexi was not seen in the footage.
Lexi is described by friends and family as liked by everyone. She is known to be very trusting. The teenager attends Union High School, just graduated 10th grade and was a pre-engineering student at a program through Tulsa Tech.
“She is a sweet, smart, young lady. I am very concerned for her. My heart is broken for her mother,” said Maemi Dildy, an instructor at Tulsa Tech.
Lexi’s current disappearance is a complete mystery. Her family wants her home and safe.
“I think someone has got her. I hope she is still in town. My biggest plea is if you think you have seen anything please call it in,” said Potter.
Lexi was last seen wearing a grey and black Hollister sweatshirt, blue jeans and light blue Adidas sneakers. She is described as slender, 5'6 tall, and weighs 110 lbs.
