Tulsa Sound Member Jimmy "Junior" Markham dies at 78

Tulsa legend Jimmy “Junior” Markham died Friday. He was 78.

Markham, a singer and harmonica player, was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 2017.

“He is a Tulsa treasure and you value those and you work to keep them and you work to make sure they always have that shine," said Alan Jamieson, with the Tulsa Blues Project.

“He's one of the older guys of the group. he's an original Tulsa sound member. we all kind of look after him and make sure he's ok," said Frank Padilla, a band member.

Markham lost his house in a fire in May, with the house uninsured the group Church Studio was helping raise money to get the music legend's home repaired.

Jimmy "Junior" Markham was active in the music world for more than sixty years.
