TULSA, Okla. — It’s no surprise the holiday season will look a lot different this year. Many are opting-out of having large gatherings due to COVID-19, but it doesn’t mean you have to throw out holiday traditions.

This time of year, it’s all hands on deck at Cajun Ed’s and Hebert’s Specialty Meats. With orders coming in from across the country, there’s little time to waste for owner Ed Richard, especially when it comes to providing food.

“We’re still shipping big products, all over the place,” Richard said.

Assuming more people may have smaller gatherings this holiday season, the business ramped up production to feed smaller tables.

“We have a lot of products for small groups; for three or four, five or six people," Richards said. "We have made a lot more of those products just in case. We’ve been selling quite a few of them.”

One of those customers is Tommy Smith. He plans to have a Thanksgiving gathering, only smaller this year.

“We’re going to do our part to be safe, but we are going to have our family gathering,” Smith said.

Meanwhile, Jane’s Delicatessen is seeing a different trend.

“This is probably the best year we’ve had for to-go orders,” said Dane Tannehill, owner of Jane’s Delicatessen.

Jane’s has already sold all of its “to-go” turkeys. But, they still plan to have a full turkey dinner for customers in-house on Thanksgiving. The owner said to-go meal orders are booming; a sign people are doing what they can to stay safe.

“I think it’s probably good for everyone to do as many pickup orders as they can,” Tannehill said.
