TULSA - Tulsa Public Schools showed its support to the LGBT community not long after the Orlando tragedy.
A flag with rainbow colors was flown at half-staff in front underneath the American flag, which was also at half-staff. The assorted colors are synonymous with LGBT Pride and are often used as a symbol for the community.
TPS sent a statement about the rainbow flag saying “We are deeply saddened by the recent senseless act of violence in Orlando, and we fly the pride flag to honor those affected by this tragedy. Tulsa Public Schools is a district committed to fostering safe and supportive climates where all of our students, teachers, and staff feel affirmed and respected.”
