Tulsa Police use stop sticks to put an end to a pursuit; driver was arrested

Posted

TULSA, Okla. - Tulsa Police used stop sticks to put an end to a pursuit on Monday night near 41st and Sheridan.

The spike strips flattened the suspect's car tires until he couldn't go any further. Sparks went flying from the car when the tire blew.

Police said they attempted to stop the driver, Zachary Bigger, around 2400 E. Broken Arrow Expressway, but he failed to stop and continued to accelerate.

Speeds got up to 80mph on the highway, until the Bigger took the Mingo exit and continued on city streets. He reduced his speed, but police still couldn't catch up to him.

It wasn't until 45 minutes into the pursuit, that the suspect started to lose car parts due to the stop sticks.

Bigger, 22, is now facing several offenses, including eluding officers and his second DUI.

Police said luckily no one was hurt.
