TULSA -- Tulsa police have ruled a man's November death a homicide in connection with a 2014 shooting.

Police said on July 4, 2014, Joseph Cathcart, who died on Nov. 30, 2017 at 56 years old, was shot in the 1700 block of North Oxford.

Cathcart was sitting on his porch when a person on a motorcycle walked up to him and shot him in the neck, according to police. Cathcart never fully recovered from the shooting and died in 2017 at a Warner nursing home.

James Redding, 66, was identified as a suspect in the shooting. Police said Redding shot and killed himself in Warner on July 8, 2014.

Police said Redding believed Cathcart was responsible for the death of his girlfriend Debra Ashton in Creek County in 1979. Cathcart and another suspect, Timmy Reel, were acquitted of the murder.
