Tulsa Police have just released video of pursuit from last week.
In it, we see a man, later identified as Derrick Ross, fleeing from police before running over stop sticks at 11th street and Mingo. Ross eventually stops in a Quik Trip parking lot in East Tulsa.
After pulling into the QT you can see Ross sitting in the car while officers demand that he exit the vehicle. TPD says they shot pepper balls at the vehicle until the passenger window broke, forcing Ross from the car.
Ross appears to ignore commands to walk towards officers with his hands raised. You can see him start to walk towards them before turning around.
In order to force him to move TPD shot more pepper balls at Ross. The first few appear to bounce off the car roof sending the pepper into the air. The last two appear to hit Ross directly in the back.
Officers eventually huddled together and moved towards him. He was then placed in handcuffs and taken into custody.
Court documents show he was charged with felony eluding, possession of marijuana and resisting officers.
Tulsa police say the case started when they responded to a suspicious activity call at a home near 21st and Highway 169. Soon after police arrived around 8:30 p.m., Ross sped off in a silver Nissan, police say.
