TULSA - Tulsa Police are investigating after a woman was reportedly beaten and killed overnight.
Investigators said a woman was brought to the emergency room by her husband last night. The woman appeared to have been beaten with an object and was pronounced dead at 5:40 a.m.
Police said the woman's husband , Derrick Stith, told hospital personnel his wife left their house that night, and when she returned she was beaten and claimed to have been robbed. Stitch told police he and his wife lived on Rockford, but when police responded to the address given, they determined the husband was lying.
Officials were able to locate the couples actual address near the 4600 block of S. Darlington at the Brixton Square Apartments. After a search warrant was served, police said they found evidence the beating occurred inside the apartment.
Neighbors told police they heard a disturbance around 3:00 a.m., which is when police believe the victim was beaten.
Police said Stith and the victim share a child and that he is from the Tulsa area, however the victim was from the Mckinney, Texas area. The family had recently moved to Tulsa.
Stith faces charges of first degree murder.
