TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Tulsa police are investigating the death of a 64-year-old man who became ill after fighting with officers who used pepper spray and a stun gun on him.

Officer Jeanne MacKenzie said Friday that Ollie Lee Brooks died at a hospital after being chased down a flight of stairs, then tackled and handcuffed. MacKenzie said officers executing a warrant Saturday discovered crack cocaine and a pipe in Brooks' motel room.

MacKenzie says the two officers involved returned to duty Thursday after the department found they used a proper amount of force.

She said a preliminary report from the state medical examiner suggested Brooks had an enlarged heart, which with over-exertion may have contributed to his death. A spokeswoman for the examiner's office said Friday that a final report is pending.
