TULSA – Police are reminding drivers to take their valuables with them and not leave them in the car after several burglaries were reported recently.
The Tulsa Police Dept. says the burglaries have occurred in vehicles that have valuables in plain sight. They urge drivers to take their belongings and not leave them behind in their cars.
Tulsa residents can take a few basic steps to help prevent vehicle burglaries.
• Remove all valuables (firearms, purse, backpack, computer, loose change, sports bags, cell phone etc.) from the vehicle each time you park. Hiding the items under a seat or under clothing doesn’t work.
• Lock the doors and activate your vehicle alarm.
• Do not leave tools, bicycles or other valuables unsecured in the bed of your truck.
• If possible, lock your vehicle inside your garage.
