BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — First Baptist Church Broken Arrow and Community Baptist Coweta are on a mission to feed as many families as possible during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Members of the congregation have already provided 434 families with food, prayer, and hope through safe fellowship in just 10 days.

Dr. Matt Brooks is the Senior Pastor for the congregations two locations at First Baptist Church Broken Arrow and Community Baptist in Coweta.

"When you look at COVID-19, you realize this is bigger than all of us," Pastor Brooks said. "We saw that there was just this list of innumerable needs for people right now so we looked to be able to just help try to solve one of them."

As the situation continued to change, he and members of the church wanted to focus on feeding the hungry.

"God has truly put this on our hearts to just fill a need right now," Pastor Brooks said. "In the Bible, Jesus was always feeding people."

Both locations of the church started gathering supplies by donation from members within the congregation last week.

"We have canned goods and dry goods, we have diapers and we have wipes," Pastor Brooks said. "We are also still taking donations."

They turned the Student Center of the Broken Arrow Campus to a mission center and changed the Worship Center on the Coweta campus in to a mission center. Both locations have a drive through in front where families can pick up free food, 'touch-free,' and ask for prayer requests.

"It is truly a privilege to show and to share the good news of Jesus Christ during this tough time," Pastor Brooks said.
