A media company founded in Tulsa lays off dozens of employees after being bought by an English company.

In a statement, Clarion Events, which is a London-based company that owns PennWell, announced 100 positions will be eliminated from PennWell's Tulsa location.

Clarion Events acquired PennWell back in April.

2 Works for You was told by a current employee that those who are keeping their jobs were told to leave this morning and come back around one this afternoon.

Those who are either being reassigned or let go have been trickling out of the building with their belongings.

One employee, who wanted to stay anonymous, told us many people have been on edge recently and wondering whether they'll have a job after this merger.

PennWell was founded back in 1910 in Tulsa.

They have several locations in the United States and two major offices in London.

"This was a difficult decision, but a necessary step to achieving our long-term vision,” said PennWell President and CEO Mark Wilmoth. “We will do everything we can to support our former employees. All affected employees locally and off-site will be provided career transition assistance services, including personalized workshops and individual coaching, through Career Development Partners, a Career Partners International firm. We expect PennWell will continue to have a strong presence in Tulsa for the foreseeable future,” Wilmoth said. “The company has extremely talented people and best-in-class products which will contribute to Clarion’s success.”
