Danny Mcguirk of south Tulsa will receive a Citizens Appreciation award from the Tulsa Police Department Wednesday for his efforts in helping police capture two burglars in late September.
Mcguirk witnessed two men break into his neighbor’s house near Garnett Road and alerted police while the burglary was underway.
Mcguirk acted quickly by calling 911 when he suspected suspicious activity, but it was the information and description he gave police that aided officers in capturing the two men.
Police Sgt. Terry Maurer who nominated Mcguirk for the award says the call helped officers prevent the crime before it became a more difficult case to solve.
“Without the assistance of Mr. Mcguirk, the burglary would have not been noticed until the owner arrived home,” Maurer said.
The award ceremony for Mcguirk will be held at the Mingo Valley Division December 9 at 12:30 p.m.
