TULSA, Okla. — While everyone gets ready to pay rent on the first of the month, Tulsa Housing Authority residents get a break.
THA is waiving rent for the month of April, because of COVID-19’s financial impact.
They hope this helps their residents, especially since all of them classify as low-income.
Ginny Hensley, Vice President of Communications for THA, says, “They are disproportionately impacted by difficult times like the ones we’re facing. So, our hope is that by waiving rent for our residents of owned properties for the month of April, it somewhat lessens the financial burdens that our residents are experiencing right now.”
The rent waiver only applies to tenants living on properties owned by THA.
THA has not made a decision on whether May will also be waived.
