Tulsa homicides in 2016: Interactive map shows location of homicides during record year

TULSA - With more than a month left in 2016, Tulsa has tied its record for number of homicides in a single year with 71.

The first was on Jan. 3, and the record-tying homicide happened on Nov. 18. The incident on the 18th was actually a double-homicide which accounted for the city's 70th and 71st deaths.

The 71 homicides ties the amount in 2009.

According to the Tulsa Police Department, 65 of the 71 cases are closed. Nine percent are still open investigations.
