TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Health Department is making changes to how hospitalizations are displayed on their COVID-19 public dashboard.

The changes are designed to make sure accurate information is displayed to users.

Right now, Tulsa County residents currently hospitalized is based on admission and discharge data available to THD from the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) Public Health Investigation and Disease Detection of Oklahoma (PHIDDO) system.

Tulsa health officials said this week it was determined that number is inaccurate due to missing or delayed patient discharge data within PHIDDO. Additionally, they said the number reflects hospitalizations for Tulsa County residents only, and does not paint a true picture of the number of individuals hospitalized in our community.

Next week, THD is working with the Regional Medical Response System to update information displayed in this panel to be a more accurate representation of COVID-19 positive patients being treated in Tulsa County hospitals and hospital capacity.

Officials said while the hospital system capacity in Tulsa County is strong, it is critical for everyone to help slow the spread of COVID-19 to protect the most vulnerable community members.
