TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa's new Police Chief Wendell Franklin says he admits he's nervous, but has a great team of people to back him up.
Franklin was born and raised on Tulsa's north side. He went to Grimes Elementary and Booker T. Washington High School.
He's been with the Tulsa Police Department for more than two decades, and says he's never thought he'd get this opportunity.
"I look forward to having the opportunity to lead the department and to move forward," Franklin said.
Mayor G.T. Bynum says Franklin has a great reputation, and is known for his excellent team work.
Franklin will take over for Chief Chuck Jordan who is retiring Jan. 31.
