TULSA -- A north Tulsa firefighter was allegedly hit in the head repeatedly by a homeowner after trying to put out a fire at the man's home Monday.

Firefighter Justin Weber says he spent Tuesday morning getting various tests done. He says a constant headache remained after he was attacked late Monday night. But he says he's lucky it didn't get worse.

The windows are open, trash is the yard and metal from the roof is barely hanging on. The trailer off North Kingston Avenue wasn't the only thing damaged in Monday night's fire.

"Whenever we had gotten there, I noticed some individuals in the yard," Tulsa firefighter Justin Weber said. "One came down a ladder and went inside the house. I noticed he had something black in what looked like a flashlight in his hand, but I couldn't tell because it was dark and smoky in there."

That's when Weber says 48-year-old Dale Parsons hit him head on with a flashlight after Weber says he was attempting to prevent Parsons from reentering the home.

"I got struck in the head, I don't know how many times, but it was enough that it didn't feel good," Weber said.

Tulsa police arrested Parsons on scene. Weber says he was also struck in the back by another person, but we're told he ran away. Weber says these instances are becoming more common.

"We have been attacked, my crew personally on multiple occasions," he said.

Fire officials caution people who are victims of house fires to follow instructions and don't try to go back inside a burning building.

"We pretty much have to do whatever we can to stop somebody from going back in there because it can cost them their life or some of our people's lives," Weber said.

Weber was fortunate to only have minor injuries, but wants to make sure it doesn't happen to anyone else.

Parsons was released from the Tulsa County Jail this morning. He's due in court October 11th. We stopped by Parsons house Tuesday afternoon, but no one was home.
