TULSA – Firefighters are warning residents about a potential “phone scam” regarding solicitations.
According to the Tulsa Fire Department, a person claiming to be with the department is calling citizens and requesting money to help purchase smoke detectors. TFD went on to say that the caller gives a fake fire station number and incorrect address of a fire station.
The Tulsa Fire Dept. sent a statement regarding the fake representative saying “The Tulsa Fire Department does not solicit money from residents nor will the Tulsa Fire Department ever solicit funding via telephone.”
They went on to instruct citizens that if they receive a phone call soliciting money on behalf of the Tulsa Fire Department that citizens should report that number to the Tulsa police non-emergency line: 918.596.9222
