TULSA — The Tulsa Fire Department is asking the city of Tulsa to change the age requirement for firefighters from 21 to 18.

City council members are expected to discuss the proposal at Wednesday night's meeting.

The department says lowering the age will allow them to be more competitive and consider more people.

Broken Arrow, Owasso and Oklahoma City require candidates to be 18 years old.
