The Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance held the "Scrubs Club" event today at the Tulsa ER & Hospital.
This event was to allow preschool and elementary-aged children to experience the medical field in a fun way.
Dr. Mark Blubaugh, D.O., Medical Director for Tulsa ER & Hospital says, "Tulsa ER & Hospital is excited about the enthusiasm and response to this fun event where kids will be able to explore the field of medicine in a hands-on way. The people that work at our facility love what we do and many of us had an interest in medical careers from a young age. We want to ignite that passion in this generation."
Kids had the chance to play with anatomy-themed games and toys, see exhibits from Discovery Lab, a medical-themed story time, a teddy bear clinic where kids could bring stuffed toys for a check up, and the chance to meet ORU's mascot Eli the Golden Eagle.
The Executive Director of TRSA, Xan Black, says, "Medical professionals must integrate various STEM fields of study depending on what specific career path they choose. We are excited to partner with Tulsa ER & Hospital on this event."
