Tulsa driver slams into a gas line causing a natural gas leak, then flees the scene

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa Police are searching for a hit and run driver who caused a natural gas leak early Wednesday morning.

The driver was in a sedan going southbound on North Sheridan Road and hit a gas regulator around 2:30 a.m.

When officers arrived, the driver had already fled the scene.

The Tulsa Fire Department and Hazmat crews were called to contain the gas leak.

Oklahoma Natural Gas has been on the scene for several hours making repairs to the gas line.

North Sheridan is down to one lane going southbound from Virgin Street to Tecumseh.

It's unclear if any residences or nearby businesses have been impacted.
