TPS students return to school

Posted

TULSA -- Tulsa Public School students headed back to the classroom for the first time since the walkout.

Teachers at Marshall Elementary School lined up outside of the school with "welcome back" signs to greet the kids as they arrived.

"We’ve missed each other and it’s good to be back as a family both as a staff and as a whole school community," Ali Pepper, a kindergarten teacher, said.

The kids hopped out of their cars and eagerly ran to the teachers who gave out high fives and hugs.

"We’ve got lots of love every day and we’ve got two weeks worth of hugs to give out today, so it’s been great," Pepper said.

The kids were equally excited.

"Oh my gosh, she got up at 6:25, got dressed, ate her breakfast," Tad Kikugawa said about his daughter. "It was the first time in a long time. She's been crying every night for her teacher."
