TULSA — UPDATE: TU officials say two players that were arrested Wednesday, due to drugs and a rifle being found in their dorm room, are no longer on the TU football team.

The University of Tulsa has issued the following statement:

“The safety of our students, employees and visitors is our top priority. While laws regarding student privacy prohibit the university from commenting on students’ status, we can say that Korey King and Lazarus May are no longer on the TU football team as of Wednesday.”

According to Tulsa police, early Wednesday morning, officers arrested two University of Tulsa football players after a large amount of marijuana and a rifle were found in dorm room.

Tulsa police say they responded to assist University of Tulsa security officers.

When officers arrived, they learned that security had found a strong odor of maijuana from a room in a TU dormitory.

When security officers enter the dorm room they found two individuals, 19-year-old Korey King and 18-year-old Lazarus May, both TU football players.

Police say security officers found a large amount of marijuana and a Kel-Tec sub2000 9mm rifle. Security officers detained both King and May and contacted Tulsa police.

Tulsa police say officers applied and received a Tulsa County search warrant to retrieve contraband.

Police say officers found 253 grams of marijuana, three air soft guns, and a Kel-Tec sub2000 9mm rifle.

Tulsa police arrested King and May and transported them to David L. Moss for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
