TULSA — Tulsa police say a man was shot in the face in midtown Tulsa overnight after what they believe was a suspected drug deal.
Police say officers responded to the area of East 33rd Street and South New Haven Avenue to reports of a shooting.
The victim's girlfriend called saying her boyfriend had been shot in the face, police say.
When police arrived, the victim, a 47-year-old man, was on a porch and was transported to a local hospital for a gunshot wound to his elbow and another behind his ear that exited through his jaw.
Police say the man was conscious and talking with paramedics during transport.
Police say officers were able to locate the crime scene in a house where the scene indicated a gun battle inside.
Police say there was only one blood trail which indicated the victim was the only person struck.
Upon further investigation, police were able to locate a duffle bag with a large amount of marijuana in a child's bedroom. Police say the incident appeared to be a possible drug deal.
Police say the victim's girlfriend said her boyfriend was supposed to be meeting with two men in a dodge truck.
This is an ongoing investigation.
