BIXBY - Police officers, firefighters, Wealaka Chapter of the Daughters of the Revolution and elementary students gathered around a steel beam of the World Trade Center located at Washington Irving Park for a 9/11 ceremony.
It started with a few welcoming words from DAR members, a procession, bell ringing and color guard.
Marylin Means retold the events of the 9/11 attacks to the crowd and said it's important for children to never forget the events of the 9/11 attacks.
"All of is to help our children realize that history is important and that we have a piece of history right here in Bixby," said Means.
There were other 9/11 events held across Green Country.
