TULSA, Okla. — Howling and hollering took place all over Tulsa Friday night.

"The Great Tulsa Howl and Holler", led by several Tulsa schools, businesses, parks, museums and non-profit organizations, was created to bring the entire city of Tulsa together, all while remaining sheltered in place. It was also to show appreciation for the front line workers who are battling the coronavirus pandemic. It also brought people together at a time when everyone is a part.

“Tulsa loves to go out," said Ryan Howell, who organized The Great Tulsa Howl and Holler. "We’re events driven. We love our concerts. I think tonight, like, you know, seeing my neighbors yelling down the street, I felt connected to them and that actually brought a tear to my eye.”

Neighborhoods gathered outside clapping, banging pots and pans, making all the noise they could.

“To have neighborhoods show that they are in this together and we’re staying inside, but we’re still united," Kara Clendenin said.

More than 60 organizations joined with the River Parks Authority for the event to bring light in a dark time. And show we’re all in this together.

“It really did boost morale," Clendenin said. "And a lot of people had a good moment today. And it’s a good way to end the week. You know, and start your weekend off with kind of a little bit of inspiration.”
