Test reveals how dangerous and hot temperatures get inside cars during hot days

Posted

TULSA - During the scorching high temperatures and humidity this summer we did a test to see how hot the inside of car gets when the windows are rolled up during the heat of the day.

We put a digital thermometer in the backseat, and using an iPhone, we did a Facebook Live streaming the video from the phone's camera. We did this unmanned. No one was allowed in the car during the test.

It didn't last 10 minutes. The iPhone overheated and shut down sometime after the thermometer displayed 112 degrees inside the car.

When we opened the door to retrieve the phone, the thermometer read 115.8 degrees and the iPhone was scorching.

Heat stroke can occur at 104 degrees, and death at 107 degrees. This test is a good reminder that even though we've moved past summer, we're still experiencing warm temperatures outside, and especially inside a car. Here's the video of our test.
