FORT GIBSON – Authorities are searching for the driver responsible for running a teen driver off the highway in what appears to be a road rage incident.
Noah Wilson, 18, and his girlfriend, Gracie Bottger, 17, were driving westbound on Highway 62 Saturday night towards Muskogee when a pickup truck came up behind them. The teens say the driver hit their car in a pit-maneuver style, forcing the car across two lanes.
“It was terrifying. I don't remember what I was thinking, but it was just scary," said Wilson.
Eventually the teens’ car hit the guardrail on the opposite side of the lane.
Wilson and Bottger received injuries from the airbag but otherwise were not seriously hurt.
Now, Muskogee police, Fort Gibson police and Cherokee Tribal police are working together to find the person who was driving the red Dodge pickup truck that rammed into the teens’ car. The driver is described as either in his late 20s or early 30s.
“There's thousands and thousands of people on Facebook that have seen and are looking for this guy, so I'm really feeling hopeful about it all," said Bottger.
The video in the player above was given to Wilson after the crash and since then, it's been viewed thousands of times online. Police say it's been a useful tool to pinpoint the red Dodge pickup and its driver.
Anyone with information pertaining to the suspect is asked to contact the Muskogee Police Department.
