MUSKOGEE, Okla. – A 16-year-old is being charged as an adult for allegedly sexually assaulting a younger family member.
According to the affidavit, Muskogee police say Jacob Dreckard not only exposed himself but also had sex with a 7-year-old family member.
Dreckard is accused of having sex with the 7-year-old at least twice.
The official documents state that the incidents occurred in a Muskogee neighborhood from January of last year to March of this year.
Employees at the Kids' Space Muskogee County Child Advocacy Center say cases like this one should make others not blame the victim.
“Believe them and support them and encourage them to seek help and to overcome this situation because the support the child receives truly does affect their ability to overcome this and move forward,” said Bethany Edge, victim advocate.
Because Dreckard’s alleged offense falls under the youthful offender act, the district attorney says he is being charged as an adult.
