11-year-old on life support after near drowning

TAHLEQUAH, Okla.- An 11-year-old boy is fighting for his life after nearly drowning at the Illinois River Sunday afternoon. 

The Oklahoma Scenic Rivers Commission says the boy was playing on an air mattress with six others on the river at Sparrow Hawk Camp near Tahlequah. 

They say the boys legs became entangled in a underwater brush and was pulled under for about 10-15 minutes. 

Emergency crews were able to pull him out of the water and was air lifted to a Tulsa hospital, where is on life support. 

Crews say the boy was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident.
