UPDATE: Tahlequah Police release names of 2 people killed during domestic incident, marshal-involved shooting

TAHLEQUAH — UPDATE: Tahlequah police release the names of the 2 people killed during a domestic incident and officer-involved shooting Wednesday night.

Police say they received a phone call from a woman saying her sister, 40-year-old Rachel Maxwell of Tahlequah had been shot in the head by her estranged husband.

The woman said she ran out of the apartment as was unsure where the estranged husband was at the time of the call.

When officers arrived they say they were in a stand-off within minutes. Officers say they made entry into the residence and discovered 37-year-old Eddie Maxwell of Muskogee in the living room with a revolver in his hand.

Officers say Maxwell refused to surrender despite multiple attempts to persuade him.

The Chief of the Tahlequah Police Department requested The Cherokee Nation Marshal Service S.W.A.T. Team, who arrived and relieved the officers.

Police say after a few minutes, shots were fired by a Marshal which killed Eddie Maxwell.

Rachel Maxwell was found in the home and pronounced dead, police say.

Police say OSBI is investigating.

Tahlequah police say two people are dead after responding to a domestic incident on Wednesday evening.

Police responded to a domestic near Pamela Street and Park Hill Road in Tahlequah around 8 p.m.

When police arrived, they found on person dead from a gunshot wound.

The suspect was still at the scene when police arrived.

Police say, the suspect was later shot and killed by officers.
