TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — The 160 member Tahlequah High School marching band, known as the Orange Express, is marching to beat of their own drums.

The band’s competitive marching show this year is entitled “Curie.”

Through music, the orange express tells the life and accomplishments of Marie Curie, the first woman to win a Nobel prize.

Each of the five movements represents a different stage in her life: 1900, Discovery, Volatile, Radioactive, X-Ray and Nobel.

The band has competed in two contests, including, the Owasso Invitational and the Bentonville Invitational, making it to the finals.

During spring break, the band will travel to Walt Disney World where they will perform in the afternoon Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom Parade.

Later, they will participate in a music workshop where they will record on a soundstage and have their performance dubbed into a Disney cartoon.
