OKMULGEE COUNTY - A criminal suspect is in the hospital after an Okmulgee County Sheriff's Office officer-involved shooting over the weekend, according to the OSBI.

An Okmulgee County Sheriff's deputy shot and wounded two people inside a car after a pursuit, the OSBI report states. That pursuit, the OSBI says, ended in the area of Gun Club Road and Mission Road when the 34-year-old suspect, Chris Culberson, turned around and drove toward the officer.

The officer fired his weapon several times striking Culberson and a passenger in the suspect's vehicle, officers say. The passenger was treated and released from an area hospital, but Culberson, of Duncan, was taken to St. Francis hospital in Tulsa and still is admitted there, according to the OSBI report. No word on Culberson's condition has been released.

The deputy was also taken to the hospital for an ankle injury. The Okmulgee County sheriff requested OSBI special agents investigate the officer-involved shooting.

Numerous agents spent the weekend working to gather information about the incident. Once agents complete the investigation, they will deliver a comprehensive report to the district attorney. The district attorney will determine if the shooting was justified
