Students from Summit Christian Academy helped plant trees at Nienhuis Park in Broken Arrow this week.

It was part of the city's 16th Annual Arbor Day Celebration.

The city's mayor as well as parks and recreation officials spoke to the group of 16 students about the importance of saving our environment and planting trees.

This national holiday is celebrated on the last week of April, but Oklahoma celebrates it the last week of March.

It was started in Nebraska in 1872.
