Oklahoma voters are stepping up to keep children safe while in school.
Last month in Edmond, Norman and Shawnee, voters passed bonds to build more storm shelters in schools.
Edmond plans to have storm shelters in all schools by 2020.
The bond that passed in Norman will allow the district to put shelters in every school, and in Shawnee, a shelter will be added to Pleasant Grove Public Schools.
"We need to be able to put our kids in shelters within a very short amount of time to protect them," said Bret Towne, Edmond Public Schools Superintendent.
Campuses without shelters will continue to take cover in safe areas within the schools.
