TULSA – Late night storms leave a Tulsa neighborhood devastated.
The Maple Ridge neighborhood is normally a quiet pocket of midtown, but that was not the case Wednesday night.
Karen Moult said, “It was probably about 10:30 and we were watching the news. They did say there was a lot of wind out there, but we didn’t think it was going to do anything. We looked out the window and everything was leaning.”
Moult’s neighbor down the street had a tree snap in their backyard and crash onto the garage. The homeowner doesn’t normally park her car in there but she did last night in case there was hail.
Dennis Jackson, an electrician working on another home as a result of the fallen tree, said, “I was quite surprised. I haven’t seen anything like this since the ice storm of 2007.”
Jackson is used to seeing things like this after sever weather but not in the middle of Tulsa.
Moult explained, “It was either straight lines of winds right through here or some people say like mini-tornadoes. We must be the target because one happened like 10 years ago in this same area.”
There was no damage to the house and no one was hurt. Now, the massive cleanup effort begins. Jackson said, “It’s a chore. It’s a problem. I feel sorry for them. They got work ahead of them.”
The homeowners plan to spend the next couple of days getting all of the debris and the tree out of the yard.
