Stillwater Police on the scene of a critical incident

Stillwater Police are currently on the scene of a critical incident at 213 W. Elm Ave, between Husband St. and Duncan St.

At 9:45 a.m. Sunday, The Stillwater Police Department received a call from a male subject stating he had several hostages.

The caller identified himself by name when asked by the dispatcher.

The caller stated he was at 213 W. Elm Ave but refused to provide his apartment number.

The caller went on to say he had several pipe bombs lying around the area. The caller also stated he had already shot one of the hostages.

The caller demanded a large sum of cash in exchange for the hostages. The caller identified himself by name when asked by the dispatcher. The caller refused to provide his apartment number.

At this time Stillwater PD is attempting to safely evacuate as we attempt to locate the caller.

The legitimacy of this call is still unverified.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol Bomb Squad has been called in for assistance.

The evacuation of the complex continues at this time.

Stillwater Police are asking citizens to stay away from the area of Elm and Husband as well as Elm and Duncan until this situation is resolved.

The caller or a crime scene was never located.
