According to a report released by the Stillwater Police Department, officers were dispatched to a convenience store parking lot for reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived they found an adult male, 23-year-old Jared Roybal, in a van with an apparent gunshot wound to his neck.

After a preliminary investigation, officers believe the victim was shot near the 3200 block near E. Raintree and transported to the parking lot.

Roybal was transported to the scene by his brother who asked the store clerk to call for medical assistance.

The victim was initially transported to the Still Water Medical Center in critical condition before being transferred to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

Jared Roybal died as a result of his wounds.

Preliminary information suggests that Roybal and his brother were driving when they came upon two vehicles stopped in the roadway with two subjects in a verbal altercation.

One of the subjects confronted Roybal, pulled a handgun, and shot Roybal one time in the neck.

Officers have identified Darwin Lonestar Marcel Doyal, 29-years-old, as the subject who shot Roybal.

Doyal was arrested for murder and booked at the Stillwater Jail.

This is an ongoing investigation, we will update as new information becomes available.

If anyone has information concerning this incident they are asked to call the Stillwater Police Department at 405-372-4171.
