TULSA – Formal child abuse murder charges have been filed against the stepfather of a 2-year-old found dead recently.
Michael, 2, was discovered in his south Tulsa home this month and according to police, he had bruises on his arms and face.
Tulsa police say Michael’s stepfather, Branden Taylor, 30,was originally arrested on complaint of child abuse injury but since then has been charged with child abuse murder; the previous child neglect charge still remains.
Michael was found with significant head injuries. Authorities say the injuries were found to be “non-accidental.”
2 Works for You spoke with Michael’s mother, Tina Taylor, who gave her side of the story.

The investigation revealed that Taylor inflicted some, if not all, of the injuries that Michael sustained. Police went on to say that there was significant delay in bringing the child in for medical care, which is where the child neglect charge stemmed from.
A report from the medical examiner’s office has not yet been released, so an official cause or manner of death has not been reported. As of now, detectives say, it appears the child died from blunt force trauma to the head.
