This weekend kids in the community got an opportunity to creatively use science and math at Tulsa's Gathering Place today.

The park hosted "STEM Saturday" at the ONEOK Boathouse.

People had the chance to learn about rocket engineering.

They could build straw, balloon, and canister rockets with Broken Arrow High's JROTC.

Derek Childers, a member of JROTC, tells us "one of our cadets had mentioned in one of our meetings to come to The Gathering Place because it's new, and everyone likes it in Tulsa, so we decided to come here. We gave them a call and started setting something up with them."

The Gathering Place hosts "STEM Saturdays" on the first Saturday of the month.
