OKLAHOMA CITY — Sen. George Young filed a bill to raise the minimum wage for workers across Oklahoma.

Senate Bill 1165 would raise minimum wage from $7.25 an hour to $10.50 an hour. It would be the first increase in 12 years.

Young says the spending power of a minimum wage paycheck has been significantly reduced since the last minimum wage raise.

A similar bill was filed last year, but didn't pass.

The legislative session starts Feb. 3.
